What has the Scottsdale Unified School Board (SUSD) Superintendent been saying?
Is this the man we want in charge of our children’s education?
Before serving as SUSD Superintendent, Dr. Scott Menzel was Superintendent at two servicing agencies in Michigan. A servicing agency offers services to school districts. He also applied to be Superintendent of the State Board of Education in 2015. He failed to get the job, as a few interviewers saw through him. They questioned his true motive for merging two failing school districts heavily in debt. They questioned the transportation system that collapsed under his leadership. Listen for yourselfā€¦

What is Equity?
EQUITY – ideological imbalance – the skewed notion that outcomes must be manipulated to ensure equal results, dismissing individual effort and merit in favor of a group association.
EQUITY – selective fairness – a divisive concept that advocates preferential treatment based on group identity rather than recognizing the importance of equal opportunities and individual responsibility.
EQUITY – conformity enforcement – a tool used by certain ideologies to stifle dissent and coerce compliance, where prioritizing equity becomes a mechanism to suppress diverse perspectives.
EQUITY – outcome-driven justice – a misguided approach that places emphasis on equalizing end results, often neglecting the importance of personal choice, hard work, and genuine competition.
EQUITY – identitarianism – a strategy that prioritizes group-based equity over the foundational principles of equal rights, potentially breeding resentment and undermining the pursuit of genuine equality.
Dr. Scott Menzel was hired in February 2020 and started on July 1, 2020. He came from Washentaw ISD, a servicing agency in Ann Arbor MI. WISD serviced 9 school district that had its own superintendents and reported to its own school boards. School boards in MI are not elected officials, they are appointed and voted on by the board itself.
Menzel has never been a superintendent of schools for a district like SUSD. He was a superintendent of schools for a district with 1300 students from 2002 -2007. He then went to a smaller servicing agency until 2011 when he was hired at WISD. He had no authority or supervision of the 9 districts, and it was the responsibility of each district to contact the service agency if they needed anything,
Menzel is now mentoring other superintendents in other districts. Robert Papalardo – Apache Junction, Jay Mann – Creighton, Chad Lanese – Buckeye, and Cain Jagodzinski – Fountain Hills. Scott’s radical ideas of equitable distribution of resources and attention will spread if parents don’t demand a change.
